Distance Education and Training Council

What is the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC)?
Just about any online school holding an ambition to be a leader in virtual education these days understands that it needs to have a curriculum that’s both strong and that’s been assessed for its ability to deliver what it promises to students from around the country and even the world. Traditional schools and those known purely as being of the online school variety (which are schools that deliver all of their content completely in cyberspace) that wish to educate people in a virtual fashion require accreditation if they hope to have any credibility. That’s where the DETC comes in.
Going with a strong accrediting agency like the DETC gives instant credibility to an educational institution and online school. In fact, the DETC is the recognized leader in distance education learning, which is what an online school basically is set up to do. Some may call it a university without walls, while others refer to it as a cyber-institution or just an online school. Whatever the name, DETC is recognized as the premier non-governmental (and completely voluntary, on the part of the schools seeking accreditation) educational organization that accredits a great many programs and all of the top online school programs around the country.
DETC has a well-developed set of core values. The vision of the DETC is to be the organization that a college, online school or university looks to when it wishes to ensure that the quality of its educational programs is first-rate in the ways in which they’re adminsistered and delivered.
The DETC also has a strong set of core values to which it adheres, including;
- Volunteerism
- Self-regulation
- Institutional self-improvement
- Excellence in student services
How the DETC Measures an Online School
The DETC is more than just an agency that looks at an online school and then passes judgment on it. It is also an eductional association that was formally established in 1955, though its roots go back to 1926, as an entity meant to promote educational standards and ethical business practices within the transcription and correspondence fields. It’s a sure bet that nobody was thinking of an online school back in those days!
DETC is non-profit, and it works closely with many an online school and distance education institution with the aim of improving the quality of the online school educational experience. At this, it performs exceedingly well and looks to be involved in a cycle of continuous quality improvement in what it does.
The DETC also assesses all of its member institutions for suitability in providing education to employees of a variety of corporations. These days — more than ever — corporations are looking to ensure their employees are receiving the best in educational services from the distance learing schools it accredits. Corporations who partner with an online school or institution receiving accreditation from the DETC can be assured that their employees will be receiving a top-notch educational experience, thereby justifying the funding the corporation has expended in having its employees trained by the online school or institution selected by the corporation.
Accreditation of an online school matters. There are thousands of so-called online schools out on the Interent. Before spending any money on tuition or fees to receive a distance learning education from one of them, make sure it’s been accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council before proceeding any further, especially when talking about an online school.

What do we have to do to get our online University, University of Ceramic Tile and Stone accredited by DETC?
We have been in existence since 2002 and we are the only true online university using e-learning technology and teaching methodology in our course development. We develop courses for all of the associations in our industry.
Thank you,
